Plant
Best planted as a hedge on the perimeter — thorns deter deer while producing fruit. Summer-bearing (July) and everbearing (July + Sept–Oct) varieties available.
Care
Trellis at 3 and 5 ft. Cut floricanes (2-year canes) to ground after fruit. Keep 3–4 primocanes per foot.
Harvest
When fruit slides off easily. Pick every day during peak.
Freeze whole, jam, pie filling, syrup, wine, mead.

Keep black raspberries 100 feet from red/golden/purple raspberries — they share verticillium.
